Dogging in Cheshire

From Delamere Forest and Alderley Edge to Broxton, Shakerley Mere and the country parks of Stockport, the county's best-known dogging spots, with a map for each.

Cheshire takes in Chester, Warrington, Crewe, Macclesfield, Northwich, Winsford, Wilmslow, Congleton and Knutsford, with forests, meres, country parks and canals in between, which gives it a long list of dogging spots. We have included Stockport and Tameside too, as plenty of people still think of them as Cheshire. The Wirral spots, from New Brighton and the Gunsite to Thurstaston and Heswall, are on our Merseyside page.

There is a map for every spot, and the ones you reach on foot have a what3words address as well. Many of them are busy with walkers and families in the day, so the notes say the times to aim for. Places change, so treat each one as a starting point.

Chester and West Cheshire

Around Chester the spots run from an old retail car park and the canal side in the city to the river at Eccleston, the Dee estuary at Parkgate and a busy picnic area on the A41 at Broxton.
