Dogging in Staffordshire

Cannock Chase and the rest of the county's best-known dogging spots, with a map for each.

Cannock Chase is the name everyone knows, but Staffordshire has far more than the Chase: country parks around the Potteries, lay-bys on the A500 and A34, lakes in the Moorlands and quiet lanes in Needwood Forest.

The spots are grouped by area, each with its own map. For lanes and walk-in spots you will also find a what3words address, which helps whether you are driving or arriving on foot. A few places lock their gates at dusk, and those are marked as daytime only. Spots come and go, so treat each one as somewhere to start looking.

Cannock Chase

The Chase is the best-known dogging area in the Midlands, with forest car parks spread across the heath and people coming from well beyond the county. The car parks along Chase Road are the busiest.

Anson's Bank car park

Often called the heart of the Chase. Take the A34 from Cannock towards Stafford, turn right where it is signposted for Pye Green and the German War Cemetery, and after about a mile the car park is on the right (if you reach the cafe you have gone too far). Mid-morning and afternoon bring couples, and Friday and Saturday nights are busy too. If it is closed, Aspen car park is the next one along.
